The Junction

The JunctionThe university recently completed construction of a new park-like gathering area that will be known as The Junction. Students conceived the name as a playful tribute to the former Malfunction Junction it replaces, as well as a metaphorical suggestion of connection between the past and present. They have been an integral part of its planning and development.

The Junction is designed as a vast green space that will serve as a “front lawn” of Mississippi State. Anchored by Davis Wade Stadium and the new Cullis Wade Depot, it will become the focal point of an expanded, more pedestrian-friendly Mississippi State. It is envisioned as a year-round outdoor common area for those who study and work at the university, as well as a stunning first impression for the thousands of visitors to the university each year. The Junction is expected to become the signature outdoor space representing Mississippi State University.

Tents at The Junction“The Junction is not only a park that honors the great history of Mississippi State's days as a 'Railroad College', it is a place where all those who bleed maroon and white can proudly come together and experience Bulldog revelry at its best!”
--Jeff Ellis, '06, former Student Association cabinet director of athletic affairs
